The Nubble Lighthouse, officially known as the Cape Neddick Light, is a lighthouse in Cape Neddick, York, Maine. It is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country due to its picturesque location on a small island connected to the mainland by a causeway.
The lighthouse was first built in 1879 and originally used a kerosene lamp to project its beam. It was automated in 1987 and still produces a beacon visible for 13 nautical miles out to sea. The property surrounding the lighthouse was acquired by the town of York in 1998, ensuring that it will remain a public attraction for years to come.
